Dr Eamonn Bradley

Dr Eamonn Bradley I am an experienced electrophysiologist, with extensive knowledge of the patch clamp technique to characterise different ion channels including the T and L type calcium current in isolated urethra smooth muscle cells. My research has demonstrated their voltage dependence; I have selectively blocked each current then shown the effect of selectively blocking each current on the spontaneous activity generated in the urethra. My research also uses microfluorimetry to demonstrate capacitative calcium entry in isolated urethra cells and I have studied the pharmacology of these cells in detail, with the hope of extending the body of knowledge in this field toward more effective treatments. This breadth of expertise with different ion channels and ion channel modulators has placed me on the leading edge of research into novel drug targets.
